Primary Care Animal Hospital provides a variety of general wellness services to pets in the Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, and the Five Cities areas. These include pet preventive care, pet diagnostics, pet surgery, and pet dentistry.
We recommend that you bring your pet in at least once a year (twice a year for seniors) for a comprehensive wellness exam to be sure they’re healthy. Dr. Lewis examines each pet from nose to tail, including weight, coat, and temperature evaluation. He also provides any necessary vaccinations, which protect against common diseases and viruses such as rabies, bordetella, and feline leukemia. Pet vaccination schedules and recommendations vary for each pet, so he can customize a plan for your pet’s specific needs.
Remember to also shield your pet from those pesky parasites! Keep your pet on a monthly preventative to protect them from parasitic diseases like heartworm (caused by mosquitoes), Lyme disease (caused by ticks), and flea allergy dermatitis (caused by fleas).
Pet Diagnostic Care
If you or Dr. Lewis suspects an internal problem with your pet, he may recommend one of our diagnostic services. Our hospital is equipped with modern digital radiography and ultrasonography technology on-site to view our patients internally and produce high-quality images. These imaging options aid in the quick diagnosis of a range of conditions, including broken bones and bowel obstructions. We also use electrocardiography, or ECG, with the assistance of cardiology specialists to check for abnormal heart rhythms.
Pet Surgical Services
Primary Care Animal Hospital has a state-of-the-art surgical suite, where we perform a range of surgical procedures for patients of Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, and the entire Five Cities area. These procedures include spays and neuters, soft tissue surgeries, and orthopedic surgeries, to name a few.
Excellence in Pet Dentistry
Dental health is a critical part of a pet’s overall health. That’s why Primary Care Animal Hospital prides itself in its exceptional dentistry services. We use state-of-the-art dental equipment to clean and polish your pet’s teeth and to perform tooth extractions and minor oral surgeries.
All patients are treated in an ICU setting and receive pre-anesthetic blood work, IV fluids, a catheter, and full anesthetic monitoring. Each patient is closely monitored before and during every dental procedure and receives a heated blanket for added comfort.
After each dental procedure, we provide you with antibiotics for your pet. We also provide a complimentary follow-up exam to make sure your furry friend’s teeth are still in tip top shape!
